Decorum

At its core, Décorum is a logic puzzle with a twist. There are only a few possible arrangements of décor that satisfy all the requirements in play—but no one knows what all of those requirements are.

Each player holds a secret Scenario card listing specific criteria for the house, such as “No room may contain a lamp” or “Every room must contain a wall hanging.” These objectives are hidden from the other players.

On a shared board depicting rooms in a house, players take turns placing, moving, or removing colored décor tokens. After each move, other players may say only that they “like” or “dislike” the placement—no further explanation allowed. Players must deduce one another’s rules through observation and limited feedback.

Though it presents as a puzzle, Décorum is really a game about communication and compromise. Progress often requires abandoning your original plan and adapting to your partner’s intentions. The game ends when all players’ secret criteria are satisfied at the same time.
