You have a passion for tabletop gaming and an uncanny ability to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and highly engaging community. Additionally, people have continuously commented on your strong organization skills and your sharp eye for tracking tournament profitability, attendance, and sales performance.
Your previous experience in event planning, tournament judging (such as Magic: The Gathering or Pokémon), or retail gaming will be clearly evident in your CV and will demonstrate your ability to act as a leader, coach team members on event running, and maintain a friendly, sportsmanlike environment.
About the Role
- Lead and coordinate exciting weekly gaming events and tournaments, from planning and scheduling through to hosting and delivery.
- Build and grow a welcoming gaming community by creating engaging experiences, running Learn-to-Play sessions, and encouraging a friendly and inclusive environment.
- Work closely with the team and management to promote events, improve attendance, track engagement, and identify opportunities to grow event profitability.
- Be the go-to person for events, coaching the team, keeping up with tournament rules and requirements, and ensuring events are organised well in advance and run smoothly.
The Business & Operations
Our store operates as a vibrant community retail hub dedicated to tabletop gaming, trading card games, and competitive play. Our primary business goal is to increase event attendance by 40% with a minimum of 12 players per community, anchoring our brand as a friendly, neighborhood gathering place.
Given the ongoing expansion of our gaming community, you will play a vital part in the continued growth and smooth running of this team, involving:
- Planning, scheduling, and delivering in-store gaming events and tournaments (including large-scale events like MTG ANZ and Pokémon) up to two months in advance.
- Tracking and reviewing event profitability, attendance, and engagement with management, alongside maintaining monthly reporting.
- Coaching team members on event operations and basic rules, while strictly working within company documentation systems without relying on side notes or informal reminders.
- Supporting day-to-day retail operations, including processing POS sales, handling cash/EFTPOS, and recommending accessories.
