DeckaDice was founded in February 2024 with one mission in mind: to create a welcoming, inclusive, and exciting space where gamers of all backgrounds could come together to play, learn, and connect.
Born from a shared love of board games, trading card games, RPGs, and miniatures, DeckaDice quickly grew into a vibrant community hub in Mackay.
We saw the need for a store that didn’t just sell games but actively supported the people who played them.
We run regular events, support casual and competitive play, and work hard to make sure everyone feels comfortable stepping through our doors.
Stuart joy

Stuart has a lifelong passion for gaming in all its forms—whether it’s cracking booster packs, playing strategic board games or maxing out character stats for D&D.
With 15+ year experience in retail, sales, management and procurement and a talent for talking your ear off, Stuart is a face many of our regulars have come to love.
He understands the nuances of what it takes to keep a store running well, and with his strategic mind, naturally fell into the role of managing the numbers for DeckaDice. Just don't ask him about his spreadsheets!
Outside of the store Stuart loves spending time with his two sons and wife and co-owner Tylah.
Tylah Joy
Director of Marketing and Operations | RPG Queen & Event Sorceress
Tylah handles all things social, marketing, and storytelling—both online and at the table.
She’s especially passionate about roleplaying and social deduction games and making sure everyone feels represented and supported in the gaming world.
She also has a soft spot for Star Wars Unlimited, and in particular loves Star Wars lore from the Old Republic.
Tylah is the magic behind much of what makes DeckaDice special. Coming from both a retail and legal background, she mostly assists behind the scenes.
She updates events, keeps things on task and continues to look for new ways for the store to improve and grow. When she is not working on the store, she can often be seen chasing around her two boys she shares with Stuart.
